About Brigid

Virginia Beach native, public school graduate, and mom of two District 6 students.

A graduate of First Colonial High School's Class of 1995, Brigid Kahng understands firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing today's students because she has experienced Virginia Beach schools from both perspectives, as a student and now as a parent.

Brigid earned a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Old Dominion University with a double major in Sociology and Criminal Justice and later completed a Paralegal Certificate through ODU. Her educational and professional background has strengthened her skills in research, problem-solving, communication, and public policy.

Her commitment to education extends beyond her own family. Brigid worked with Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a middle school English tutor, helping students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and prepare for success in the classroom. This experience deepened her appreciation for the dedication of teachers, staff, and school support personnel who work every day to help students thrive.

As a parent, volunteer, and community advocate, Brigid believes strong schools are the foundation of strong communities. She believes students deserve safe learning environments, high academic standards, and opportunities to succeed, while parents deserve to be respected and informed partners in their children's education.

Brigid Kahng is running for the Virginia Beach School Board in the upcoming school board election to provide thoughtful, practical leadership focused on students, families, and educational excellence. Her goal is simple: to help ensure Virginia Beach schools remain a source of pride for our community and continue preparing students for success in college, career, and life.
